#1 Ocean Pitch – Croyde, Devon
Ocean Pitch offer a wide range of camping pitches from tent pitching, pod camping to VW Glamping. What’s great about Ocean Pitch is that’s located in the peaceful area of Croyde Bay.
If you’re looking for a relaxing holiday with a diverse range of activities to do from Surfing and Paddle Boarding with hire services and lessons, great coastal walks and there is even a festival called Ocean Fest that arrives in the bay every June. Ocean Pitch has a lot of on-site facilities including hot showers, BBQ Bricks, electrical hock ups and even free WIFI access.
To pitch here it is fairly cheap at £15 per night and £99 for glamping pods that come with a continental breakfast delivered to your pod which is well worth it considering the location!
#2 Loveland Farm – Hartland, Devon
Opened its gates back in 2001 by a couple called Jeff and Karina. Loveland offers a vast selection of sleeping styles. Loveland is located in the beautiful Hartland countryside down in Devon just 1.5 miles away from the nearest seaside location.
They have a diverse range of eco pods in a variety of styles and sizes our favourite is the Popla Pod which looks like a miniature version of the Eden Project. As well as pods they also have Tipis for that Harry Potter style of camping or you can use their small pitching site which has capacity for 6 tents so booking well in advance is recommend.
If you’re wondering what to eat Loveland have that covered with their onsite Pizzeria or if Pizza doesn’t take your fancy then you can try some of their home bred Lamb; they’re also located near some lovely country pubs if you would prefer a more formal sit down meal with drinks.
Loveland is the perfect humble abode away from home, with local ammenties close by. The guys here also cater for special events such as weddings, hen parties and family gatherings.
#3 Whitehill Country Park – Paignton, Devon
Whitehill Country Park is the perfect family getaway for those looking for a relaxing, sophisticated, energy filled time. This country park offers a variety of different accommodation types from luxury lodges and glamping pods to caravan and tent pitches.
Whitehill is located in the English Riveria only minutes away from the nearest beach, making it great for a summer holiday. As well as being close to a lot of local attractions within the English Riveria they also have a lot on-site stuff to do as well. Whitehill offers woodland and nature trails, playgrounds for the kids, a soft play area and they even have the shire craft centre where you can do pottery, face painting, bear making and other fun arts and craft activities.
This lovely country park offers an on-site restaurant and café with evening entertainment and plenty of bars for the adults.
#4 Yurtcamp – Newton Abbott, Devon
Looking for a wild, nature filled camping experience in the woods? Then Yurtscamp is the best place to go. The campsite is located within 40 acres of woodland with a large field for activities such as Cricket, Football and other field based games making it great for both adults and kids. They also play host to an assault and outdoor play area with swings and stepping stones.
As well as onsite activities Yurtcamp is conveniently located near some great places to visit such as Becky Falls, River Dart Country Park, Pennywell Farm and also the well-known Woodlands Adventure Park which features toboggan runs, drop slides and soft play areas which is great for the whole family.
The Yurts accommodation facilities is something to be admired. The camping accommodation here is known as the village and features mainly eco-friendly pods from small to large with stoves, crockery pots and cutlery to help cater for the perfect camping experience.
Yurtcamp also cater for parties and weddings. They even do team building corporate events which is awesome!
#5 Dartmoor – Dartmoor, Devon
If Yurtcamp isn’t wild enough for you then why not go to Dartmoor? Dartmoor is a vast area of moorland spreading over 300 square miles down here in Devon. No matter where you go on Dartmoor you can find an abundance of wildlife, streams and walks. So grab your camping equipment and start your journey!
Dartmoor is divided up in to 5 sections North, East, South, West and Central the North of Dartmoor is near Okehampton, the south is near Ashburton and Buckfastleigh, the west is near Tavistock and Lewdown and the east is located near here us in Bovey Tracey.
This moorland is really something to be admired and is has a lot of tourist information centres with history and heritage centre for people looking to learn about the area. Dartmoor also offers cycling paths, horse riding and a lot of walks throughout the moor land. If you’re parched from all this activity then you will also find a lot small pubs and small shops to refuel on your travels.
